HMS Victory is a famous British warship, best known for her role in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and for being Admiral Horatio Nelson's flagship at that battle. She was a first-rate ship of the line, a massive and powerful type of warship that played a crucial role in the naval battles of the time.

Here is a brief presentation of HMS Victory:

Name: HMS Victory
Type: First rank ship of the line
Launched: 7 May 1765
Armament: The number of guns varied over the years, but she generally had around 100 guns.
Length: Approximately 69 metres
Beam: Approximately 15 metres
Draught: Approximately 7.5 metres
Crew: Around 850 to 900 men

HMS Victory took part in many naval battles during the Napoleonic Wars, but it was the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 that made her famous. This battle pitted the British fleet commanded by Admiral Nelson against the combined Franco-Spanish fleet under the command of Admiral Villeneuve. During this battle, HMS Victory was Nelson's flagship, leading the British forces to a decisive victory despite his own death during the battle.

Her hull is lined with 3,293 copper plates weighing a total of 17 tonnes, which serve both to protect her from tarets (large woodworms) and to increase the hydrodynamics of the ship, which can reach a speed of 8 knots (approx. 15 km/h) under full sail.
The main parts and superstructure are made of elm, and the hull of Baltic oak.

After the Battle of Trafalgar, HMS Victory continued to serve in the Royal Navy for many years, but was withdrawn from active service in 1812. She then served as a guard ship and depot in Portsmouth, UK. Over the years, the ship has undergone various restorations and renovations to preserve it as a historic monument.

Today, HMS Victory is moored at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard as a museum ship. She is one of the oldest and most famous ships in the world, a symbol of British naval power and the heroism of Admiral Nelson. Visitors can explore the ship and learn more about its history and its importance in the naval battles of the time.
