Junkers JU87-B2 Stuka
Following the success of the original Black Horse Stuka with a wingspan of 1.94 meters, it was inevitable that Black Horse would develop an even larger version, perfectly suited for the popular 50cc class of remote-controlled aircraft engines.
The structure is entirely made of balsa wood and plywood, assembled using exclusive factory jigs, and covered in printed vinyl. The cowl, made of reinforced fiberglass, is sturdy yet lightweight, easily concealing most engines and their mufflers.
Just like its smaller counterpart, it maintains an incredibly faithful silhouette and an outstanding color scheme, while displaying an even more impressive wing loading. This gives the model exceptional docility in flight while exuding a real "presence" in the air. The highly effective flaps and ailerons provide full control at all speeds and endow it with an extraordinary ability to resist tip stalling, an unexpected trait shared with its smaller version.
Inside those imposing scale spats lies a robust, steel-sprung undercarriage, ideal for absorbing the irregularities of typical model flying fields. In the cockpit, one discovers a detailed instrument panel and an authentically looking pilot, meticulously hand-painted.
A substantial model that will undoubtedly bring joy to its owner!
In 1935, the first model of the Ju 87, designed by the firm Junkers, took flight. This light ground-attack bomber immediately stood out as an exceptional aircraft, especially due to its heavy armament. Tested during the Spanish Civil War, the Stuka actively participated in the Battle of Britain in 1940, a period during which it proved vulnerable if not escorted by lighter fighters.
From 1942 onwards, it was deployed on the Eastern Front, where it carried out anti-tank bombing missions. The Junkers Ju 87 notably took part in small offensives during the Battle of Normandy in the summer of 1944.
The Stuka is equipped with a siren that wails when the aircraft dives towards its target. This bomber also serves as a psychological weapon, both for the military and civilian populations.
More than 5,700 units were built.
