The M46 Patton, an American tank based on the M26 Pershing with numerous improvements, was built in 1157 units from 1949 onwards. It distinguished itself during the Korean War, and served the US Army until 1957, even being used for training in France, Belgium and Italy when the M47 tanks arrived.
