The UH-60 Black Hawk is a medium-capacity assault and maneuver helicopter developed for the US Army by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation to replace the obsolete UH-1 Huey. The Black Hawk made its maiden flight in 1974 and entered active service in 1979. However, due to its high cost, it was not produced in the same numbers as its predecessor, the Huey. The most strategic units were the first to receive this helicopter.
The UH-60 Black Hawk features two large sliding doors on either side of its fuselage, facilitating rapid loading and unloading of troops and equipment. Despite its high cost, it is recognized as a high-quality tactical helicopter, offering excellent flight performance and superior maneuverability. Ridley Scott's 2001 film "The Fall of the Black Hawk" reinforced the helicopter's reputation.
