KH32003 - Model NORTH AMERICAN OV-10D "BRONCO" Gulf War Desert Storm 1995 1/32
The North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco is a ground-attack, reconnaissance and artillery guidance aircraft designed by North American. It served in a variety of conflicts, including the Vietnam War and the fight against narcotics in Colombia. The OV-10D version, based on the conversion of 17 US Marine Corps OV-10As, is designed for night surveillance. In addition to the night vision system, it retains the under-fuselage load-carrying and external fuel-carrying capabilities of the OV-10A. The OV-10D features improved turbines, under-wing pylons for rocket baskets, flares, free-fall or laser-guided bombs, and external fuel tanks. A FLIR AN/AAS-37 and a laser designator are installed in a turret in the nose of the aircraft, which can be linked to a 20 mm General Electric M97 gun mounted in a turret under the fuselage. Equipment also includes an optional APR-39 radar search and warning system, an ALE-39 decoy launcher and an exhaust gas heat reduction system. This version was withdrawn from US service in March 1994, with seven examples resold to South Korea.
