The Mirage 2000 is a fighter aircraft designed by the French company Dassault Aviation in the late 1970s.

Although it recalls the Mirage III from the 1960s with its delta wing design, the Mirage 2000 is an entirely new aircraft, featuring a larger wing area and natural instability that enhances maneuverability, complemented by fly-by-wire controls.

Entering service in 1984, the Mirage 2000 was primarily used by the French Air Force, which received 315 units, while 286 others were exported to eight different countries.

Mirage 2000C

The single-seat version of the Mirage 2000, used for air defense, entered service in July 1984 within the 1/2 Cigognes Fighter Squadron at Air Base 102 Dijon-Longvic. The RDI S5 aircraft still in service since 2016 can carry four bombs.

These aircraft are stationed at the Orange-Caritat Air Base.
