1/350 IJN LIGHT CRUISER AGANO WWII Japanese Light Cruiser Z26(40026)
New 2010 mould with new chimney, catapults, deck, display base etc... I.J.N. 3rd Fleet 10th Sq. Jan. The AGANO class cruisers were designed in the 1930s to replace the Tenryu, Kuma and Nagara class boats.
Longer than their predecessors, the AGANO cruisers were fast but lightly protected and under-armed for their size.
Completed on 31 October 1942, the cruiser named AGANO participated in the battles of Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands in 1943. She was heavily hit by aircraft from the USS Saratoga and USS Princeton in Rabaul Bay and was torpedoed during an attack in November. She was sunk on 16 February 1944 by the American submarine USS Skate.
